The 248 SP was built around a new 2,458 cc Ferrari V8 with a single overhead camshaft V8 engine fed by four twin-choke Weber carburetors. Power was in the neighborhood of 250 bhp. The 268 SP version was also fitted with a V8 engine, with the stroke increased to 71 mm and upped to 2,650 cc. With only two examples produced (of this chassis/engine combo), the 268 SP hails from an era of dramatic change in the racing world.
